What to say of the senseless, barbaric murder of a 19 year old boy by a group of teenagers ? What has happened to Malaysian society that we can create rabid mongrels like the attackers. From what can be discerned from news reports he was attacked for being effeminate. I suppose that's a way of saying he was attacked for being gay. As I read the extent to his injuries tears rolled down my eyes. He was brutally tortured. The government must take significant responsibility for this and I hope the mother of the victim sues them. To have competitions asking youths to come up with programmes that can deal with what they essentially equated to a curable disease called being an LGBT, is beyond the pale. How do you stop teenage mongrel bullies if the government themselves are acting like bullies. Remember when a minister once equated wearing V necked shirts to being gay ? The culture of bullying related to a kid being too smart, too different, too fat etc has become so pervasive in schools and yet no significant action to deal with this trend has been taken. Let's not even get into the quality or lack thereoff of most of the new teachers now appearing in our public school system. When I was in school we had great and passionate teachers who wanted to teach, wanted to inspire. Now we hear of teachers more interested in forcing their own religious or cultural views rather than educating the children in their charge.
I have no idea if Nhaveen was gay or not. But it doesn't really matter does it. The fact is he was bullied, beaten, tortured and killed because they thought he was. And so we are all clear here, there is no law in our land that says being gay is illegal. The law says 'sexual acts against the course of nature' specifically defined as sodomy and...wait for it... oral sex, is illegal. So basically pretty much most of you reading this, along with a significant number of the adult population of Malaysia have already committed criminal
Love is natural and universal. Whoever that love is between. How dare we dictate anything related to that. How dare anyone dictate. And what consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes or behind closed doors is no ones business. The hypocrisy in Malaysian society know no limits it seems, and the bunch of holier than thou supposed leaders social and political have their heads up their arse so deep they've just become too used to the smell of their own shit. I will no longer tolerate not stay silent to their hypocrisy. I am a full blooded heterosexual, but I know a few homosexuals that are brighter, more decent, more kind and more honorable than I am - and I am grateful for having them in my life. But the fact that I refer to a them and us is, in itself, unacceptable. We must all change, it's time, its way past time.
As for the despicable animals that attacked, tortured and killed Nhaveen, they should be tried as adults for pre meditated murder. And face the penalty, which I believe is still death. And I hope they fight it, so they can feel for a bit longer, a modicum of the torture they put that innocent young man through.
God bless and keep you Nhaveen. I am sorry we failed you. We won't fail your memory.
